one year!

Today is the one-year anniversary of Chicken Tender. I've been writing here for one whole year! And somehow I'm not ready to scrap it and start over! I've been blogging for a long time, and for every other blog I've felt confined and bored around the one-year mark. But right now I'm very happy with the progress of Chicken Tender and committed to the long haul.

I've been trying to think of a fun way to celebrate this anniversary, and coming up short. The most obvious seems to be sharing a great recipe, but I'm in maintenance mode in the kitchen right now. I don't have anything I'm bursting to say, and I'm not inclined to clutter things up with contests and giveaways.

But I do have a survey! Everyone loves surveys, right? Well, here's mine. It's only 10 questions, but it will go a long way toward understanding my audience better and improving the environment here.

What else can I do to mark this occasion? How about a brief retrospective?
This was my first post.
Can't wait to make this again.
Eating lots of this right now.
Still laughing about this.
This is what I would bring if you were sick.
I love having conversations like this.
Never did quite get over this.
If I had to pick a favorite photo from the past year, it might be this one. Or this. Or this, or this, or this. Completely fell in love with my camera this year.
Whenever I make this, I'll think of David & Karen and the total blast we had last summer.

This was one of the prettiest things I made.

Wondering if I'll do this again.

This was... scary. But clarifying. Hoping we won't have to face this again.

Still deeply troubled by this

This is easily my most popular post.

And I think this is the most useful.

I will probably miss this very soon, when we're cobbling together a kitchen from a hot plate and a toaster oven.

This was one of the most difficult and enlightening things I've done, not only in the past year, but ever.

And this is our next adventure, which you're sure to hear lots about over the next year.

Thank you so much for supporting Chicken Tender. I could not do this without you.

Can't say I liked being grouped demographically with those up to fifty...

Just own it, Derek. It's okay to be old.

Well I did the survey. Continue on this journey. I look forward to your comments.

Something I didn't think to mention on the survey: I have always really disliked pop-out browser windows. I would love a switch to entering comments below the post, rather than in this pop-out.

I think I tried to do that before and it made the site slow down or seemed much more cluttered... I can't remember. The pop-out window seems preferable because you don't have to leave the page or hit "back" on the browser when you finish commenting. But if there's dissent I'm certainly willing to change it.
